Variation on the Jehu mandala found on the Black obelisk of Shalmaneser which presumably depicts the sun.  This is a very simple design but also awesome, taken pretty much directly from antiquity, but for the border I added semicircles.  The simplicity is best displayed as a round pattern.  Bright oranges and reds might be great colors for this pattern too.
